Enjoy Events in Atlanta during Spring Break

There are several things to do for those staying in town over the break.

Spring break is March 18–22. While many students will be traveling off campus, if you don’t have plans yet, don’t despair. There is a lot going on in and around Atlanta, so everyone can take advantage of the week off from classes.

Georgia Tech Sporting Events

Come out and support the Yellow Jackets at any of several athletic events throughout the week. Admission to all events is free with a valid BuzzCard.

Track and Field Yellow Jacket Invitational (March 15-16)

Women’s Tennis vs FSU (March 15)

Men’s Tennis vs. UNC (March 15)

Softball and Baseball vs Virginia: Both teams play a three-game series against Virginia on March 15, 16, and 17.

Men’s Tennis vs Duke (March 17)

Women’s Tennis vs. VT (March 22)

Atlanta United vs. Philadelphia Union

March 17, 7 p.m.

Location: Mercedes-Benz Stadium

The reigning MLS Cup Champions are back. And though the prices are higher than most other events this week, the five stripes in Mercedes-Benz are electric. Whether you’re a diehard fan or have yet to see a match, Atlanta United is always worth checking out if you can.

Atlanta Science Festival

Ready to Roo Atlanta

March 18, 20, 21

Location: Varies

Price: Varies (no entrance fees, but purchases available at each event)

Bonnaroo is hitting the road to bring the spirit of the music festival to cities around the country. Enjoy a virtual reality game competition and a performance by Pure Colors and Caleb Wheels. Attendees at each event will have a chance to win Bonnaroo tickets.

Atlanta Hawks Games

March 19, 21, 23

Location: State Farm Arena

The Atlanta Hawks are playing three home games during Spring Break and the weekend after. They play the Houston Rockets on March 19, the Utah Jazz on March 21, and the Philadelphia 76ers on March 23. Potential attendees should note that the game against the Jazz is also the Hawks’ UGA Alumni Night.

Burgers on the Beach

March 21, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Location: The Battery

Price: Varies

Burgers on the Beach is designed for those who can’t make it to the beach during Spring Break. Aside from the ambiance, customers can enjoy half-off burgers. This is a recurring event that takes place every Thursday.

Ten Buck Comedy

March 22, 9 p.m.

Location: Highland Inn & Ballroom, 644 North Highland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA

Price: $10

1UP Comedy presents its weekly Friday night show with routines by 10 comics for $10. The performers vary by week and are a surprise each time. The show is ages 18 and up.

Several big concerts will also be taking place in Atlanta during Spring Break, including Mumford and Sons, Hozier, and Travis Scott.
