Spring Career Fair Coming Next Week
Career Fair 2017 in McCamish Pavilion
With the Spring All Majors Career Fair coming next week, now is the time for students to consider what they want to get out of attending.
Some attend career fairs simply to gain experience interacting with employers, shaking hands, or delivering their elevator speech. Others are on tight timelines for employment and want to do everything they can to secure the best position.
Either way, the best advice Richard South can give is to plan in advance.
“Research the companies you want to visit. Access the career fair app on your mobile device to navigate the booth map. And, if you find long lines for the companies you most want to speak with, use the time instead to visit employers not on your list,” said South, corporate partnership program manager in the Center for Career Discovery and Development (C2D2). “You might be pleasantly surprised that they’re a good fit for you.”
Students are encouraged to speak with their C2D2 career advisor if they have specific questions about their career paths and goals. Undergraduate students and graduate students can look up their career advisors at career.gatech.edu.
Appointments with career advisors can be made through CareerBuzz and take place at C2D2, in the Bill Moore Success Center, or in various locations around campus to make visits more convenient for students. See a remote advising schedule here.
The Spring All Majors Career Fair will take place Thursday, Jan. 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in McCamish Pavilion.
