Applications Open for Undergraduate SGA Elections
Do you have a passion for public service? Are you an undergraduate student at Georgia Tech? You may just be suited for a position in student government. The undergraduate Student Government Association (SGA) has opened Spring 2018 Elections Applications for students interested in running for office. Positions are available for the Undergraduate House of Representatives (UHR) and the president/vice president ticket.
“It's really important that the people who are running for SGA office represent the larger Georgia Tech student body, because those are the people who work on everyone's behalf to make really important decisions — like budget allocations to student organizations or important lobbying events at the Georgia State Capitol,” said Reagan Johnson, a graduate student in cybersecurity and elections chair for SGA. “More people running for office means a more diverse SGA, and a more diverse SGA will make better decisions in the interest for everyone at Georgia Tech.”
To qualify for candidacy, you must fill out the online application and attend one of the following information sessions at the SGA office (located on the first floor of the Student Center Commons):
- Monday, Feb. 12, 3 to 4 p.m. (UHR)
- Thursday, Feb. 15, 4 to 5 p.m. (UHR)
- Monday, Feb. 19, 5 to 6 p.m. (UHR)
- Wednesday, Feb. 21, Noon to 1 p.m. (UHR)
- Thursday, Feb. 22, from 5 to 6 p.m. (president/VP ticket)
The online application is due Thursday, Feb. 22, by 5 p.m.
