Labor Day Weekend Brings Football Kickoff

Campus will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day, giving students, faculty and staff an extra day to enjoy weekend activities both on campus and around the Atlanta area.

Campus will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day, giving students, faculty and staff an extra day to enjoy weekend activities both on campus and around the Atlanta area. 

A few things taking place this weekend:

  • The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets kick off their football season against Wofford on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in Bobby Dodd Stadium. Georgia Tech Athletics shares 20 new things about gameday on campus.
  • Several Georgia Tech faculty members will participate in the Decatur Book Festival, either as speakers or introducers. The festival takes place in and around the downtown Decatur square through Sunday and is free and open to the public.
  • Dragon Con, one of the largest sci-fi, comic, and gaming conventions in the world, takes places in downtown Atlanta through Monday. The Saturday parade down Peachtree Street is free and begins at 10 a.m.
  • The Atlanta Braves take on the Philadelphia Phillies at Turner Field on Monday at 1:10 p.m. Tickets are available for as little as $8.
