Campus Events Today Spotlight Mental Health
Studying in Clough Commons
Three events planned for today, Sept. 12, will shine a spotlight on mental health, including information about warning signs in others, improving your own mental health and well-being, and learning how to talk about suicide and mental health in ways that help break down the stigma surrounding them.
Be Well: Understanding Mental Health and Important Triggers
11 a.m. to noon, Room 320, Student Center
Human Resources hosts a Be Well session on Understanding Mental Health and Important Triggers. In the session, a representative from the Employee Assistance Program will talk about common issues and symptoms related to mental health in the workplace, and how to “map” conversations around them.
Fresh Check Day
11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Student Center Ballroom
Health and Well-Being will host Fresh Check Day, a national event focused on uplifting mental health and well-being and advocating for suicide prevention in a carnival-themed atmosphere.
Silence the Shame
5 to 8:30 p.m., The Garage at Tech Square
The Advanced Technology Development Center hosts Silence the Shame, an event featuring industry experts from entertainment, sports, technology, academia, and science who will address the stigma associated with mental health and share ideas to help people improve their emotional, psychological, physical, and social well-being.
