Enjoy Fall Break in Atlanta

Classes will not meet Oct. 8–9 for fall break. Students staying on campus have plenty of ways to enjoy the break at Tech or around Atlanta.

Sporting Events

Baseball

Georgia Tech Baseball hosts an exhibition game against South Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. at Russ Chandler Stadium. Admission is free for all attendees.

Football

Start your fall break by cheering on the Yellow Jackets as they take on the University of Louisville Cardinals on Friday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN, so gather friends, food, and school spirit to celebrate the start of break.

Soccer

Head out to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium to watch Atlanta United FC take on the New England Revolution at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6. Tickets can be purchased here.

Festivals

Oktoberfest in Piedmont Park will be held Friday, Oct. 5, from 6 to 11 p.m. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Piedmont Park Conservancy. Tickets cost $20 and include admission, food, and drinks. They can be purchased here.

The ATL CluckFest 2018 Fried Chicken Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Candler Park. The event will feature more than 25 restaurants battling for the title of Atlanta’s best fried chicken. Tickets cost $15, if purchased in advance, or $25 at the door.

The Atlanta International Night Market will be held Oct. 5 – 7 at North Point Mall in Alpharetta. The Atlanta International Night Market is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing people together to celebrate culture, community, and international cuisine. Tickets cost $10 at the door or can be purchased for $7 in advance.

Stone Mountain Park’s annual Pumpkin Festival will be held through Oct. 28. The festival includes attractions, games, carved jack-o-lanterns, and more. Access to the festival is included with a daily pass to Stone Mountain, which can be purchased here.

 Activities

Yoga in the Park will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 6 p.m. in the Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark. This event is free, but arrive early to secure a spot on the field. Yoga in the Park occurs every Tuesday in October, so check it out another week if you’re unable to attend during fall break.

Enjoy the outdoors with a leisurely bike ride around the city. Bicycles can be rented through Relay Bike Share, the Atlanta Bicycle Barn (near the Eastside BeltLine Trail at Irwin Street), or Skate Escape (near Piedmont Park at 12th Street).

Music and Arts

Complete the “Atlanta Wall Crawl” by visiting some of Atlanta’s murals and public street art. Check out the Krog Street Tunnel, BeltLine Eastside Trail, or Inman Park for beautiful, free art and great photo opportunities.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will play the Harry Potter Film Concert Series from Oct. 5 – 7. The concert includes the score from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets while the entire film plays in high-definition on a 40-foot screen. Tickets can be purchased here.

Atlanta Trademarks

Use fall break to check out some of Atlanta’s most popular attractions like the World of Coca-Cola, which is offering $10 admission to Georgia Tech students through Oct. 10. Bring your BuzzCard for discounted admission.
