Faculty Shaping Futures

Kristen Bailey

Students spend thousands of hours in class while earning a degree. Driving that experience is the instructor at the front of the room. Each semester, students have transformative experiences in the classroom with Georgia Tech’s renowned faculty members, who not only deliver instruction but also guide students in their career paths and help them explore their interests and potential.

Many students take the time to express their gratitude through the Thank a Teacher program. Meet a few of them here.

It is so clear how passionate you are about dynamics, and in general, mechanical engineering. You walk into every class with a smile, and you never fail to deliver an engaging lecture. I have always been afraid to speak up in class, but you make the class so welcoming that I can ask questions without a fear of being judged. I truly enjoy coming to office hours and bothering you with my millions of questions. Thank you for making me excited to work in the engineering field. I aspire to be a professor like you one day.”

Bo Dai

Assistant professor, School of Computational Science and Engineering

Mehrdad Moradi

Graduate student in computational science and engineering

In Mehrdad’s words: “Your Advanced Topics in Machine Learning class completely transformed my understanding of generative models. The first half of the course was deeply mathematical, but your ability to explain complex concepts in relation to one another made everything click. Beyond your deep knowledge of the subject, you genuinely cared about your students’ learning. Writing out every proof on the board not only made the concepts more accessible, but also showed that these proofs are achievable. Your expertise is both fascinating and unique.”
