State Business Transaction Disclosure Reports Due Jan. 31
Georgia law requires that all public officials and employees disclose all business transactions occurring during the previous calendar year which the public official or employee has transacted with the State of Georgia and any agency of the State of Georgia for himself or on behalf of any business in which the public official or employee or a family member has a substantial interest.
This requirement applies to transactions by the employee or any business in which the employee or spouse or dependent has more than a 25 percent interest. There is an exception for transactions less than $250 where the total of all transactions does not exceed $9,000 in the calendar year. If an employee has no business transactions to report then it is not necessary for that employee file the State Business Transaction Disclosure Report.
The State Business Transaction Disclosure Reports for 2013 are due on Jan. 31, 2014. The report is required to be filed electronically with the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission at its website. Further information and additional explanation of the filing requirements can be found here.
