Tech Hosts First Sibs Day

Students encouraged to invite brothers and sisters to get to know Tech.

The Georgia Tech Parents Program is taking a new step in connecting families to the Institute this year by hosting Tech’s first-ever Sibs Day.

Students can sign up to bring their brothers and sisters between the ages of 7 and 16 to participate in a multitude of activities designed to show the various aspects of community and life that take place at Tech.

“Sibs Day is a time when the younger siblings of undergraduate students visit Tech and engage in activities that are educational, spirited, and fun,” said Laci Weeden, director of the Parents Program.

The goal for the program is simple: enhance the family connection of students through the introduction of college life to their own families. Sessions will include educational workshops, a community service project, bowling, and attending a men’s basketball game.

Many siblings of Tech students may not know what college is like and may be reaching the age in high school where college is on the horizon. Sibs Day may help promote their desire to pursue higher education and may also open up the possibility of coming to Tech. The program also fits into Tech’s strategic goal of enriching the student experience.

Georgia Tech students who sign up their siblings are strongly encouraged to participate as much as possible to create a more positive experience for all participants.

Sibs Day will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, and registration is open through Friday, Jan. 23. More information and registration are available online at www.parents.gatech.edu/sibsday.
