As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, the Student Government Association (SGA) is helping students who can’t travel for the break find a home away from home.

The Home for the Holidays initiative lets Georgia Tech faculty and staff members volunteer to host students for a Thanksgiving meal. Host families and students join together to enjoy the holiday with their fellow Yellow Jackets.

“Georgia Tech has students from around the world, and not everyone can go home for the break,” said Julia Haley, executive vice president for undergraduate SGA. “Many international students have also never experienced the American holiday. We hope Home for the Holidays can bring students and hosts together for a day of gratitude and community.”

All students are paired with at least one other student (and can also request friends to accompany them), and their dietary restrictions are considered when pairing students and hosts.

Faculty and staff who are interested can fill out the host interest form. Students can fill out the student interest form.

All forms should be completed by Friday, Nov. 8, at 11:59 p.m. Students will be matched by the weekend before Thanksgiving.
