Enjoy Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta

The semester may have only just started, but it’s time for a day off. Georgia Tech’s campus will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, in observance of Labor Day.
If you’ll be in town, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the long weekend.
The Yellow Jackets will host three different opponents at O’Keefe Gymnasium throughout the weekend.

Volleyball vs. Ole Miss: Saturday, Aug. 30, 7 p.m.
Volleyball vs. Arkansas State: Sunday, Aug. 31, 2 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 30
Atlanta will host the Aflac Kickoff games on Saturday and Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Football fans of all teams can enjoy free activities around the venue throughout the weekend.

The annual convention celebrates pop culture, science fiction, fantasy, gaming, comics, and more. Enjoy the free parade on Peachtree Street starting at 10 a.m.
Saturday, Aug. 30 – Sunday, Aug. 31
The free, family-friendly festival celebrates southern and soul food, music, art, and urban winemakers.
Monday, Sept. 1
At 9:30 p.m., the Lasershow will be projected on the side of Stone Mountain — five times the size of an IMAX screen, and taller than the Statue of Liberty. The show is free, but venue parking is $10.

For one week only, close out the summer by diving back into Jaws as the film celebrates its 50th anniversary. 7 p.m. nightly.

This Atlanta History Center exhibit tells the story of Henry “Hank” Aaron from his time in Mobile, Alabama, to his legendary baseball career and his life as a leader in baseball, business, and charitable causes.
The exhibition features images and artifacts from the collections of the Aaron family, the Atlanta History Center, the Atlanta Braves, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Emory University, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, and personal collections.
